(E) Saving the best (nearly) 'til last... a fabulous enamel sign by the tops French poster artist Cassandre for the Casino grocery store chain, fabricated by the famed Emaillerie Alsacienne-Strasbourg Hornheim; it measures 27 across, 29 high, and is one-sided. I have one in my kitchen, and couldn't even boil water without it! The local French drunks couldn't resist hurling their empty wine bottles and/or 2-day-old baguettes at Monsieur Casssandre's masterpiece, merely adding to its vintage authenticity and "patina," as we say in the trade...
