You don't think for a minute that
our French friends would let their apartment windows go all naked
through this world, do you?!! Of course not! So, in
Lyon and such places, the old apartment buildings have these gorgeous
cast iron valences gracing their windows. Can you begin to imagine
how difficult it was for me to climb up those fourteen floors
and pry these heavy things off at four in the morning? And not
wake anybody?!! I got away with FOUR of them, and now they're
available to you. They measure about 48 inches wide and about
15 inches tall; they're just less than a half inch thick. WITH
their hard-won patina!
